Efficient processes for high expectations

Why the expectations of cafeteria guests are significantly higher than those of traditional mass catering is easy to explain: everything has to be fast, aligned with the latest trends, filling yet affordable — and, for today’s generation in particular, also healthy and sustainably produced. And above all, of course, it has to taste good. Ensuring that all required ingredients are available at every location, in the right quantities and at the right time, requires a wide range of administrative and organizational processes in procurement.

EDI solution for the food service sector

To manage these processes efficiently together with their business partners, the cafeterias have been successfully using Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) for several years to technically connect a large number of suppliers.

As part of a transition to the Delegate inventory management system, the cafeterias now also use EDITEL’s conversion services, allowing them to benefit from EDITEL’s specialized expertise and achieve even better, cleaner data integration. Suppliers are connected either via classic EDI or through EDITEL’s WebEDI solution. This setup ensures that data exchange with all integrated business partners takes place via a single connection, while all business information is processed automatically within the Delegate system.

Specifically, article master data (PRICAT), orders (ORDERS), and price-rated delivery notes (DESADV) are used. These documents can be exchanged easily and efficiently in real time and are now fully integrated directly into the cafeterias’ inventory management system.

Benefits of EDI

The EDI solution not only provides the cafeterias with up-to-date daily purchase prices, but also enables faster goods receipt and significantly simplifies inventory management, since the value of stored goods can be accessed in the system at any time. Friedrich Schober, authorized officer at Österreichische Mensen, is highly satisfied with the solution:

“The professional support provided by EDITEL throughout the entire integration process, combined with the seamless interaction with Delegate, resulted in a solution that has sustainably optimized our procurement processes.”

Integrated EDI solution for more efficient processes

As part of a switch to Delegate's ERP system, Österreichische Mensen has been using EDITEL's managed EDI service since 2020, which allows for even better and cleaner data integration. Österreichische Mensen delivery partners use both a traditional connection and the Web EDI solution by EDITEL. This ensures data exchange with all integrated business partners via a single connection as well as automated processing of all business information directly in the Delegate system.
